Dottybacks

Pseudochromidae

Due to their relatively small size, astonishing colors and most intriguing behavior, dottybacks have become a very popular fish with aquarium hobbyists. It is a hardy group that adapts well to life in captivity. Some species show color difference between sexes.

Dottybacks as a group are fairly aggressive and intolerant of each other. Due to their strong territorial behavior, we recommend an aquarium with plenty of hiding places for all types of dottybacks. There is a difference in the degree of aggressiveness between the species, so care should be taken choosing the right species to introduce to an established aquarium. Captive Bred focuses on the least aggressive species from the group.

Our dottybacks are used to eating high quality dry feeds, such as pallets, crumbles and flakes, and will easily acclimate to any other quality food.
